Who We Are
Carolina Island Adventures was established in 2023 by Captain Rees O'Donnell (with the support of his wife, Danielle) with the goal of helping others create memorable experiences on the water like the many he and his family have made in their own lives while boating, kayaking, surfing and exploring on their many adventures. Rees is a native of the Chicagoland area that fell in love with coastal North Carolina when he and his family were stationed here in 2019.
Rees is a US Coast Guard Licensed Master of 100 GT and has worked in the maritime industry for over 10 years, operating everything from military ships over 250ft in length to 60 foot research vessels to 16ft flat bottomed aluminum work skiffs. Prior to working in the marine industry, Rees has been on or around boats his entire life. Some of his fondest memories include navigating 14ft aluminum Lund fishing boats with 10 HP Johnson outboards around the waters of northern Wisconsin at the age of 10.
